Men´s National Team

Along with the women’s team, the men’s team has to develop a new team in 2016. After the missed participation at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, the team’s MVP Georg Grozer (Shanghai) announced his retirement in the national team. Besides, the head coach, Vital Heynen, did not renew his contract also. Consequently, the men’s national team has to establish a new solid team with a foundation of experienced athletes like Lukas Kampa (Radom/POL), Marcus Böhme (Lubin/POL) or Denis Kaliberda (Perugia/ITA). This process should start in 2016 already; the team (ranked on 9th place in the World Rankings / 4th place in European Rankings) has to compete in the World League and the qualification for the European Games. It may present the start of a successful future to tie on past achievements, like the 3rd place at the World Championships in 2014 and the 1st place at the European Games in 2015.
