Women´s National Team

The women’s national team was not able to qualify for the Olympic Games 2016 in Brazil though, but has now set a new goal to put their focus on, the Olympic Games 2020 in Tokyo. Therefore, young German players get introduced to the international top level of volleyball. Solid and experienced players like Margareta Kozuch (Casalmaggiore/ITA), Maren Brinker (Montichiari/ITA) or Mareen Apitz (Azeryol Baku/AZE) should build up a strong unit together with the younger generation. This process is important and necessary because most other teams do have striking individual players. Nevertheless, the “Butterflies” have the best team spirit.

Right now the women’s national team is ranked on 5th place in Europe behind Russia, Serbia, Italy, and Turkey. In addition, Germany is placed on rank eleven in the World Rankings.
